Suggestions for Enhancing the Forex Tester Online User Interface

Dear Forex Tester Online Team,

First of all, I’d like to express my appreciation for developing Forex Tester Online (FTO). As a trader who values backtesting tools, I find the platform’s browser-based design and precise historical data incredibly useful, especially during its Beta phase. However, I’d like to offer some feedback and suggestions regarding the user interface (UI), particularly about the drawing tools, which I believe could significantly improve the user experience.

One of the main challenges I’ve encountered is the inefficiency of accessing drawing tools. Currently, to use a tool, I need to click on the left-hand toolbar, scroll through the list, and select the desired option each time I want to draw something on the chart. This process becomes quite tedious and time-consuming, especially when performing detailed backtesting that requires frequent charting. To address this, I strongly recommend adding a "Favorited Tool" feature. This could be a customizable section or a quick-access bar where users can pin their most-used drawing tools. With this feature, I could instantly access my preferred tools without navigating the full menu repeatedly, making the workflow smoother and more efficient.

Additionally, I’d like to suggest expanding the range of available drawing tools to include some advanced options that are currently missing. These tools would greatly enhance the platform’s versatility for technical analysis during backtesting. Specifically, I propose adding the following:

  • Path: For drawing custom price movement paths to simulate potential scenarios.

  • Horizontal Ray: To extend horizontal lines infinitely to the right, aiding in identifying key support/resistance levels.

  • Rotated Rectangle: For marking zones with adjustable angles, useful for unconventional chart patterns.

  • Ellipse: To highlight curved price zones or cyclical movements.

  • Parallel Channel: For quickly plotting equidistant trend channels, a staple for trend-following strategies.

  • Trend-Based Fib Extension: To project Fibonacci extensions based on trend direction, critical for setting profit targets.

  • Fixed Range Volume Profile: To analyze volume distribution over a specific price range, offering deeper market insights.

These additions, combined with the "Favorited Tool" feature, would make FTO’s interface more intuitive and powerful, aligning it with the needs of traders who rely on diverse charting techniques. For comparison, tools like FX Replay (integrated with TradingView) already offer a wide variety of drawing options, and I believe FTO could stand out by providing both precision and convenience in this area.

I understand that FTO is still in Beta, and I’m excited to see how it evolves. Implementing these UI enhancements could make it an even more competitive and user-friendly tool for traders like me. I’d be happy to provide further details or test any updates you roll out. Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss this feedback further.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Keep up the great work!

Best regards,
Dicky
