Overall Experience

Symbols

  1. Lacking in commodity and index listing. But it’s a start

UI

  1. Option to change grid values. For example, when I do analysis on the hourly chart, I would like to set the vertical grid to daily instead of hourly. Having a daily / weekly / monthly clickable grid view would be more convenient.

  2. Default light mode / dark mode without manually changing colour setting.

  3. Options to delete chart, not through changing layout. I opened 3 charts, wanted to delete the 2nd chart only but don’t know how.

  4. Time and price texts are too small for QHD resolution

  5. Add in right mouse click pop up menu

Indicators

  1. Options for apply saved setting for indicators.

  2. Options for multiple saved indicator setting and choose which one is set as default.

  3. Options to delete indicator in the setting pop up box instead of delete icon

  4. Fibonacci indicators - I would like to colour custom my lines and increase the text size. I’m testing with QHD resolution and the default texts are way too small to be readable

  5. Options to add custom indicators (usually a separate programming module)

  6. Trading time zone would be extremely nice as it adds visual zoning if I want to backtest a specific time during the day. US, Tokyo, London time zone etc.

Placing Orders

  1. What I like to do with other trading platforms (NinjaTrader, FXCM, SaxoBank) is to pick a crosshair cursor option, find a price level that I like, and right click to place a stop order. It is very convenient to place orders that way and I hope to see it in FTO.

  2. Adjust stop loss, buy/sell order, and take profit just by moving the lines. Modifying the price level is just so inconvenient.

  3. Trailing stop loss is almost necessary for intraday trading.

Others

  1. When I try to devise new trading strategy, I like to scroll through at least 3 years of price movement and draw inspiration from it. With FTO, or ForexTester Desktop, I have to advance the time first then move my way backwards. This is inconvenient. Would like to see “analysis” mode much like TradingView, and then create separate projects for backtesting.

Note:

I am using Optuma as my main backtesting software. It’s the most comprehensive and user friendly back testing software I’ve ever used. I compare all backtesting software and trading platforms to it.  However, it lacks an affordable perpetual forex intraday data subscription (there is but really expensive) so I reluctantly switched to ForexTester for intraday backtesting. That aside, I’m really excited for FTO, especially as a Mac user who don’t have a lot of options for backtesting without using Parallels. Very keen if there’s a lifetime options priced similarly as ForexTester Desktop.
