News Time Misalignment Despite Correct Time Zone Setting

Description:
On ForexFactory.com, a high-impact news event (red folder) is scheduled for 08:30 AM. However, in the backtesting platform:

  • The price action that corresponds to the news occurs at 09:30 AM.

  • The chart timeline shows the news event at 10:30 AM.

This discrepancy occurs even though the time zone is correctly set to UTC-4 to match ForexFactory.com's settings.

Expected Behavior:
The news event on the chart should align with the 08:30 AM time listed on ForexFactory.com when the time zone is set to UTC-4.

    To help us investigate the time misalignment, could you please let us know what the project's time zone is set to in FTO? Also, could you confirm if Daylight Saving Time (DST) is applied in your settings?

      Here are the details you requested:

      1. Project Time Zone in FTO: UTC-4

      2. Daylight Saving Time Setting: Set to US DST.

      I’ve confirmed that the news event I’m backtesting is from January 14, 2025, which falls outside of U.S. Daylight Saving Time (DST).

      My project time zone is currently set to UTC-4 with DST set to None, but this appears to cause a 1-hour offset from ForexFactory’s schedule (which follows EST = UTC-5 during this period).

      I’ll try adjusting the project time zone to UTC-5 to match ForexFactory’s time on that date.

      Let me know if there’s a recommended way to handle this more dynamically within FTO.

        Yes, your approach sounds correct. Adjusting the project time zone to UTC-5 for dates outside of the DST period should resolve the offset you're seeing.

          Hi Serhii S,
          Thanks again for your support. After updating the time zone to UTC-5 with DST set to None, I can confirm that the price action on the chart now aligns correctly with the ForexFactory news at 08:30 AM.

          That said, I did notice that the built-in economic calendar in the platform still displays the event at 09:30 AM. It’s not a major issue for me, but I just wanted to bring it to your attention in case it's something you’d like to review.
