EthUSD data gaps

when backtesting, the chart will very often jump forward 2 full days leaving huge gaps in price action which leave you completely bewildered as to where you currently are at in terms of market structure. this completely destroys the flow of backtesting in crypto.

and the xrp data is a complete wash, its just wicks everywhere, completely untradable on lower timframes.

i was a test user, i dont have access to my project anymore and i didnt take screenshots. i thought it would be a well known problem for anyone who has tried to backtest ethusd. i started the project from early 2018 and by like July it had happened about 6-7 times where data would skip forward almost exactly 2 days

Hi Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'll ask our developers to further verify the ETHUSD and xrp data from that period.

Hi @User! Thanks for the screenshot. This isn't a data gap. Trading on this instrument closed for the weekend on Friday at midnight (UTC+3) and resumed on Monday. That's why you see the jump from the 26th to the 28th.

I’ve checked the data and confirmed that for ETHUSD in 2025, trading is indeed available over the weekends as expected. However, in historical data from 2018, it looks like weekend trading might be missing — likely because the data provider at that time either didn’t include or didn’t record weekend activity. Unfortunately, such gaps sometimes occur in older datasets, especially from earlier crypto market periods. Thanks again for pointing this out!
